Champions reign supreme at Rad GP
National Champions Tim Johnson and Wendy Simms confirmed they're winning colors Sunday in Lakewood, WA at the Rad Racing GP. Both riders eventually rode off the front with one other rider and held them off at the line for the big win. Ryan Trebon and Jeremy Powers finished second and third. The previous night's winner Sue Butler finished second with Amy Dombroski in third.
Surprise(d) Winners at Starcrossed
Jeremy Powers and Sue Butler claimed victories Saturday Night in Redmond, WA under the lights. Both were surprise winners. Powers was the one who was surprised as the rider cruised past the finish line continuing on another lap, unaware that it was the last lap. He was shortly informed by fans that he had won the race and promptly proceeded into his victory salute. Ryan Trebon and Tim Johnson finished second and third behind Powers.
Butler went from the gun with Canadian Wendy Simms and proceeded to throw blows to each other in the latter part of the race. In the finish sprint, Butler had enough to hold off Simms.
Battle at Barlow September 28
The Battle at Barlow cyclocross race will be happening this Sunday.
This classic, popular former Cross Crusade course is best known for its challenging, railroad tie stepped run-up and long off- camber section. Two gradual climbs per lap will add to the burn, but overall the course could be described as euro-style: fast, with ample room to pass.
The weather forecast to be sunny and clear, but it is Oregon, who knows.
Pre-registration is $20 and can be sent to Charlie Warner (5926 NE 16th Ave, Portland, OR 97211) or individuals can register at Veloce Bicycles located at 3202 SE Hawthorne.
Day of race registration is $25.

Starcrossed 2009 Looking for More Support
So Star Crossed is a pretty big deal and takes a lot of effort to pull
it of. Our club does what I think is an amazing job but for '09 I want
to bring in two clubs to support us. I don't want to crack these guys
like domestics on the final climb of the Tour. Bicycle Center /
Collision 1 did a nice job help us this year. Thanks guys. If other
clubs are interested in pitching please let me know this fall so I can
keep you in my planning. I basically want one club to help with set up
and one with tear down. Going back to finish tear down on Sunday has
always been a bummer. Finishing it Saturday night would be huge. Maybe
I could go watch Rad Racing GP. Thanks.
Take Care,
Terry Buchanan

New Team Sponsor Seeking Riders
Avanti Racing would like to announce that our team has a new sponsor and a new racing
focus, so we are opening up the team to new members.
Avanti Racing is now sponsored by a Seattle-based marketing and software
company, Blue Rooster, and so we will be known as "Blue Rooster Racing".
Expect to see spiffy new kits later this year with a cool new logo (yep,
like the old Rosignol Skiis Rooster logo), and we plan on ramping up our
commitment to racing in all racing disciplines: Road, Cyclocross, Track and
Mountain Bike.
Plus, we have a new frame and components sponsors and we plan on making our
annual Mutual of Enumclaw Omnium Stage Race, Western Washington's largest
racing event, even better next year.
So to all men and women racers -- come join us for a ride to find out more
about our new commitment to Washington bike racing, making new friends in
the cycle racing community and promoting a sport that we all love.
Any current racers looking to join a dynamic team that really supports it's
racers, is successful at integrating bike racing into busy schedules and
family lives, drop us a line. We'd love to hear from you.
Our team has been around a long time and we are well known as an active
Washington cycling team. To everyone else, we look forward to seeing you on
the roads during training and at the races!
Best,
Ben Larson, Josh Gerak, and the rest of the Blue Rooster Racing Team
